Certified Computing Professional (CCP)

What is the CCP professional Designation?

In January of 1994, ICCP began offering a single designation, the CCP for Certified Computing Professional. Since 2004 this has been broadened to include CBIP, CDMP and ISA. ICCP continues to support its existing and earlier certifications as shown below:

  • CDP - Certificate in Data Processing
  • CCP - Certified Computer Programmer
  • CSP - Certified Systems Professional

Holders of these designations may continue to use them. Current holders are also eligible to receive a new certificate with the new ICCP logo. We encourage all of the earlier holders to move into the Recertification progam. Please remit $25 USD for the colour certificate, which is slightly larger in size than the old certificate and plaque but with trim lines to allow it to be fitted.

When you see any of these designations following an individual's name, you know that he or she has passed a rigorous test and has at least two years professional experience combined with a college or university education and four years work experience otherwise.

What does it take to earn an CCP designation?

A CCP designation is conferred upon anyone who:

  • Passes the examinations with a minimum passing score of 70% or higher.
  • Meets the education and/or experience requirement.
  • Signs a document agreeing to comply with the ICCP Codes of Ethics, Conduct and Good Practice.

The designation is conferred only when all the requirements are met. An individual can take the examinations whenever they so choose but the designation will not be earned until the experience requirement is satisfied. The experience requirement calls for 48 months of full-time professional level work in computer-based information systems excluding clerical, data entry and classroom work. Up to 24 months of credit is given for Bachelor degrees in related fields. A complete statement of Certification Eligibility Requirements is also available.
