on the ICCP - IBM Strategic Alliance
Des Plaines, IL
- The Institute for Certification of Computing Professionals (ICCP)
announced a new relationship with IBM*
to provide tests for the company's professional certification program.
In this relationship, ICCP's C and C++ exams are offered as part
of the tests required for the IBM Certified Developer,
a new certification offered by the Professional Certification Program
from IBM.
The IBM Certified
Developer is qualified to develop custom business applications using
the unique programming features of IBM operating systems and programming
applications development environments originally based on OS/2 Warp.
Only three tests are required for this new certification, one of
IBM's Operating System Kernel tests, and one programming language
test, which can be one of the two ICCP tests, and one application
development test selected according to the developer's area of specialty.
After passing either the C or C++ exam, developers can further demonstrate
their competency by passing a core exam offered by the ICCP to become
an ICCP Associate Computing Professional (ACP). They may also choose
to join the 50,000 other Certified Computing Professionals (CCPs)
worldwide by passing the core exam and one specialty exam. According
to ICCP staff, "This relationship brings together the international
reach of both companies. It combines the strengths ICCP, the largest
independent certification organization in the computer industry,
and the Professional Certification Program from IBM, one of the
most comprehensive certification programs offered by a vendor."
The Professional
Certification Program from IBM measures the skill of developers
and technical professionals who develop, implement, and support
mission critical applications or networks. Employers benefit from
this program with the assurance that the developers and technical
professionals are keeping up with the information technology that
supports their business.
The Professional
Certification Program from IBM is an international program offering
40 certification roles for IBM software and hardware systems. Over
24,000 candidates have achieved or are in the process of achieving
certification. Education is offered through IBM Education and Training
and testing is administered by IBM's testing agencies worldwide
and IBM's Education and Training organization in Europe.
